The Products

In 1990, Ositech began working with laptop developer Compaq Computer Corporation to develop connectivity products for their notebooks. By 1991, Ositech had produced the first fully internal Data + Fax Modem and Ethernet LAN combination adapter with further revolutionary developments following shortly thereafter. The next step was to make these innovative connectivity solutions available to a wider market, and the PCMCIA standard expansion slot for laptops provided an ideal opportunity for Ositech to accomplish this.

In 1994, Ositech introduced their line of high performance Type II multi-function PCMCIA Cards. Named the Trumpcard series, these state of the art products quickly won many awards of excellence including two prestigious Windows Magazine Win100 awards, two PC Computing MVP Finalist awards and a number of Editor’s Choice awards for various products in the lineup. The Trumpcard line has continued to evolve with the times.

Current high quality Trumpcard products include Five of Hearts II 56K Modem and  CellFlex Wireless Tri Mode Data solutions, packaged as the King of Clubs (Tri Mode cellular data only) and the King of Hearts (Tri Mode cellular data + 56K landline modem).

The Technologies

One of the aforementioned awards was presented to the Five of Hearts, the card which introduced Ositech's revolutionary Digital Phone Interface (DPI) technology. DPI allows mobile users to be significantly more productive by not restricting their connections to only analog and cellular phones, but also allowing them to make connections through any digital (PBX) phone—the phones that most mobile users are exposed to constantly in offices and hotels.

With the increase in demand for DPI, and the more regular inclusion of 56K modems in most laptops, Ositech has introduced new PC Cards using their exclusive DPI technology. The Five of Spades, a DPI-only PC Card increases the connectivity found in your existing setup with DPI and CellFlex upgradeability while the Seven of Hearts, a DPI + 10/100 Ethernet solution, provides a total connectivity solution with digital, Ethernet and CellFlex upgradeability all in one card.

As cellular connectivity has grown, so too has the need for wireless data. While many companies offer simple solutions, these products work only in your home area network (usually digital) or while you roam (in analog coverage). Ositech’s exclusive CellFlex technology provides Tri Mode data which enables your Multi Mode cellular phone to make connections in either network coverage area.

Future Direction

Ositech's goal is to remain a key player in the mobile communications market, with a focus on wireless connectivity. To this end, Ositech is continuing to develop new solutions for the wireless market with research in the fields of wireless data, and an exploration of integrated solutions to best take advantage of the ever-evolving wireless technologies. Future products will continue to offer innovative data communications solutions, thereby increasing the connectivity possibilities available to the end user with each Ositech product.
