FAQs About Ositech's DPI

Do other Companies offer DPI?

Ositech’s Digital Phone Interface (DPI™) technology is the only fully internal digital phone adapter technology. A few other companies offer external digital phone adapters. Although these external solutions work, they are more costly and complicated to use than Ositech’s DPI technology.

How is DPI better than external adapters?

Unlike external digital phone adapters, Ositech fully internal DPI connection requires no AC power adapters or batteries, and no extra telephone cables. This means you don’t have any extra equipment to worry about that you can accidentally leave behind at your client’s office.

Can I use DPI overseas?

Since Ositech DPI modems use an RJ-9 connector - the most universal telephone connector - you can make DPI connections worldwide. With DPI, there is no need to carry numerous (and expensive) phone adapters. Unlike Ositech DPI modems, external digital phone adapters do not use RJ-9 connectors. This means outside of North America, you also need an extensive collection of telephone adapters for Europe and the Pacific Rim. Since external digital phone adapters require a power source, you also need numerous power plug adapters.

Summary

When you compare Ositech’s DPI technology to external digital phone adapters, it is clear why DPI is easier to use and less expensive. When you buy an Ositech DPI modem, you pay a competitive price for a modem which connects through analog, cellular and digital phones - worldwide.
When you purchase a standard modem, you also need to buy an external digital phone adapter to make connections through digital phones. And, if you travel outside of North America, you need additional phone and power plug adapters. These add-ons can amount to hundreds of dollars.
