Ingram Micro to Distribute Ositech's Jack of Diamonds Throughout North America.
Guelph, Ontario (January, 1996)
Ositech Communications, Inc. has signed a distribution agreement under which its Jack of Diamonds PCMCIA card will be distributed by Ingram Micro in both the United States and Canada.
The agreement covers the Jack of Diamonds, a state-of-the-art multi-function PC card that combines a high performance Ethernet network adapter and a 14.4 or V.34 28.8 cellular data/fax modem on a single Type II PC card. The Jack of Diamonds is the industry's first V.34 multi-function PC card, and has set the
standard for ease of use by being the only V.34+Ethernet PC card that has its drivers shipped with Microsoft's Windows 95. By incorporating hardware that allows customers to connect to Ethernet, land phone lines or cellular networks, Ositech's Jack of Diamonds provides the world's first and only triple function PC card. The Jack of Diamonds also includes NMP 10 EC, an enhanced cellular error correction protocol to overcome many of the signal distortions that have interfaced with data-over-cellular transmissions in the past.
"This agreement represents a significant step forward for
Ositech," said Walter Hare, Ositech's Distribution Manager. "Despite the rapidly increasing number of multi-function PC cards, the Jack of Diamonds is continuing to increase its market share...present demand is clearly indicating a need to widen our distribution network. Now the Jack of Diamonds is carried by Ingram Micro, Merisel and EMJ Data Systems."
