Introducing the Trumpcard Deuce

Compact, 3-port hub allows notebooks and desktop PCs to share Ethernet connection

Guelph, Ontario (January, 1996)
Ositech Communications Inc. pushes the connectivity envelope today with the unveiling of the Deuce, a miniature hub that allows an Ositech Ethernet Trumpcard PC card to share access to an Ethernet network. Now you can share notebook data without the hassle of juggling disks, slow parallel-port connections or the assembly of bulky parallel-port connectors.

This compact hub is ideal for exchanging information among a notebook, desktop PC and network. Acting as an Ethernet splitter, the Deuce provides two RJ 45 receptacles, one each for the desktop PC and network Ethernet cables, plus direct connection to the Ethernet portion of the Trumpcard. When the Trumpcard is not connected to the desktop, the desktop will still have access to the network.

"With the Deuce, Ositech has gone beyond the typical multifunction solution and once again expanded the horizons of connectivity," said Ositech product manager Michael Dodgson. "The Deuce provides the simplest, fastest, most direct Ethernet connection for mobile computer users."

When away from the office the Deuce can link up to three notebooks to form an impromptu network, allowing users to share information or even run a common demonstration. As the Deuce requires no external power source, the product provides optimum connectivity with minimum assembly.

Ositech will begin shipping the Deuce in January. The product carries a suggested retail price of $129 and will be available through Ositech's network of distributors and value-added resellers.
