Ositech Communications Inc. continues to strengthen its reputation as an innovative mobile connectivity leader with the introduction of the
Jack of
Hearts, the world's first 33.6 Modem + Ethernet PC Card to incorporate Ositech's revolutionary Digital Phone Interface.
Mobile computer users often face the difficulties presented by the digital (PBX) phone systems found in business environments. Because the higher current digital (PBX) systems employ can damage modems beyond repair, many users have invested in PC Cards with some form of digital line guard to protect their modems. While this feature protects modems from damage, it does not solve the fundamental problem posed by digital (PBX) systems: mobile users cannot use these lines to connect to the Internet or download email. Enter Ositech's Digital Phone Interface
DPI™. Using
DPI, you can connect easily not only through analog lines and cellular networks, but also through digital (PBX) phone systems.
Ositech Product Manager, Michael Dodgson describes the product as overcoming a major connectivity barrier, stating, "With the
Jack of
Hearts' DP I, Ositech is giving mobile users the opportunity to have true universal connectivity at their disposal -- no longer will people have to hunt for analog lines, or go through the embarrassment of conducting a presentation in the fax room because that was the only place an analog line could be found. The Jack of Hearts delivers it all, Ethernet capabilities and a modem that will maintain their PC Card investment while offering tremendous features."
In addition to DPI, the
Jack of
Hearts offers several other features that set it ahead of the competition. Advanced Power Management detects features of the card not in use and powers them down, saving valuable battery power and reducing the possibility of internal heat buildup damaging your laptop. Outstanding operating system support gives you the flexibility to work in all major operating environments, including Windows 3.x, Windows 95 and Windows NT,
Unixware, SCO Unix and Macintosh, and the Jack of
Hearts is available in both 10BaseT and 10BaseT/2 models.
Ositech's Jack of Hearts will be in the North American distribution channel beginning August, 1997, under the part numbers TR14458 (10BaseT) and TR14459. Suggested list price is $309US ($417 Canadian) for 10BaseT and $349US ($471 Canadian) for 10BaseT/2. Visit Ositech's website at www.ositech.com for special promotions and evaluation units, or contact
