Ositech Communications Inc., the PC Card innovators, today won PC Magazine's Editors' Choice Award for their Jack of Spades CardBus 10/100 + 56K
DPI™ PC Card, the best multi-function CardBus PC Card.
PC Magazine's March 1999 review assessed seven 10/100 + 56K modems PC Cards including products from Xircom, 3Com, IBM and Intel. Through comparative testing of modem and Ethernet performance, Ositech's consistent performance allowed the Jack of Spades PC Card to stand above all other CardBus PC Cards. Further enhancing the Jack of Spades position is Ositech's innovative
DPI
(Digital Phone Interface) technology that allows mobile professionals to use the modem component through both analog (phones found in residential houses) and digital/PBX phone systems (like those found in businesses worldwide). The
DPI
feature allows Jack of Spades users to connect easily to the Internet, get e-mail and send faxes where no other modem can connect - through the handset cable of office digital phones.
"Ositech is very pleased to receive this esteemed award for our Jack of Spades CardBus 10/100 + 56K
DPI
PC Card from one of the computer industry's most prestigious magazines," said Tahir
Akram, President of Ositech. "The melding of CardBus, Fast Ethernet, V.90 56K and our
DPI
technology makes this multi-function PC Card the most dynamic connectivity solution presently available to laptop users anywhere. This high performance digital passport allows you to keep in touch anywhere, any time, through any phone."
Ositech also credits part of this success to the close relationship with
SMSC, a recognized innovator of IC networking technologies. "Partnerships such as that of SMSC and Ositech bring the highly competitive PC Card market quality products that set the standards for others to follow," offered Ron
Ethe, Director of LAN Products at SMSC. "Due to progressive Fast Ethernet implementation by
SMSC, and Ositech's advanced design, the Jack of Spades was the industry's first CardBus multi-function PC Card, and is now confirmed by PC Magazine to be the best."
In conjunction with this award, Ositech is releasing their COM Select software for the Jack of Spades that allows users to adjust the COM port location. This utility allows the Jack of Spades to be easily configured to COM 1 to 4 to meet the needs of older Windows modem applications, such as America Online. "COM Select" is posted on Ositech's web site and will be included in Jack of Spades products shipped after April 1, 1999.
Ositech allows qualified businesses and technical editors to take advantage of Ositech's Evaluation Program and test the Jack of Spades risk free for 30 days. The Jack of Spades has been available since March, 1998 and has a list price of $399.00 US ($599.00
CDN), under Ositech's part number TR14486.
