After a rigorous canoe trip down the 2,300 mile length of the
Mississippi, the trio of David, Eric and Mike have completed the
Big Muddy Adventure they began last September. The Big Muddy
Adventure was an on-line educational trek that followed these
three adventurers down the length of the Mississippi River. What’s
more, as educators, the trio brought this incredible adventure
into classrooms everywhere by means of a regularly updated
website. Packed with features like daily updates, journal entries,
photos, data, learning challenges, maps and video clips from the
adventure, the website was an attraction to everyone. Students,
teachers, parents and curious web surfers have followed these
adventurers down the length of the Mississippi, learning about the
history and environment surrounding this mighty river.
Ositech is proud to have been a part of this expedition.
Responding to a specific request by the Muddy Adventurers, Ositech
donated a pair of King of Hearts
dual mode data modems with CellFlex
to enable the trio to update their interactive website throughout
their entire journey. The results, as seen here
at the Big Muddy Adventure website, were overwhelmingly
successful.
"The
Ositech King of Hearts
Cellular Modems worked without fail. We
were extremely impressed with the ease of use and reliability of
the product. The majority of our daily updates could never have
been posted to the server without Ositech’s support," wrote
Eric Frost upon his return from the Mississippi, "Nights
spent in our tents looking out over the water truly defined the King of Hearts
Cellular Modem’s capacity in mobile
computing."
The trio chose Ositech based on the Dual Mode Data capabilities
of our CellFlex
products. Traveling down the Mississippi took them
through both Analog and Digital cellular coverage areas, and the
unique ability to connect in both modes with Ositech's King of Hearts
PC cards was an essential tool in keeping the adventurers
connected. Eric added, in a post- adventure letter, "…the King of Hearts
easily transferred and received data on both
digital and analog signals. The signal did not have to be very
strong…"
Ositech’s CellFlex
products are designed to give the user
total flexibility in connectivity. Whether traveling back and
forth to a cottage, or adventuring in the great outdoors, Ositech’s
modem is designed to provide the best possible connection in any
given environment or condition. "We found the hardware and
software associated with the Ositech King of Hearts Cellular Modem
to be very strong and easy to use," Eric continued, "It
performed well under a variety of circumstances."
Ositech
would like to extend congratulations to the participants in the
Big Muddy Adventure for the successful completion of their trek,
and wish them all the luck in their further endeavors. We know
that wherever these adventurers find themselves next, they will be
able to connect to the Internet anywhere, any time and in any
place with Ositech’s CellFlex products.
