Ositech brings Nokia handset users with PDAs in from the cold!

Direct-Connect data connection kits for the latest Nokia handsets and PDAs from HP/Compaq, Sony and Palm.

Guelph, Ontario, December 29, 2003: The wait for owners of current generation Nokia handsets and PDAs is over.  Ositech is announcing the availability of direct connect data connection kits for the Nokia cellular phones and PDAs from HP/COMPAQ, SONY and PALM.

With the ever-increasing proliferation of PDAs and cellular data, mobile professionals are becoming more and more productive and servicing more customers while on the move.  A recent study to analyze productivity gains suggests that use of these devices enables the users at least an hour of more time to connect with their customers each week.

Current generation of Nokia handsets now use a new accessories connector designed by Nokia and called the Pop-PortTM. The data connectivity cable for these handsets from Nokia focus on the laptop users only and overlook the users of PDAs who need to connect to the Internet using their cellular phones.  While the owners of laptops with USB ports can use the Nokia data accessory, PDA owners who would like to do the same cannot do so because PDAs predominantly come with serial interface for data and syncing, not the power hungry USB port.

“When it comes to connecting the PDA with your cellular phone, the cleanest way is to use a direct connect handset to PDA cable” said Joseph Casarin, Field Application Engineer for Ositech.  “This is the reason why these direct connect cables are so popular. Apart from being the easiest, they also are the least expensive solution in terms of cost”, he added.

Users of Nokia handsets and PDAs now have a solution provided by Ositech’s Direct Connect kits. This is the only solution available on the market which bridge this connectivity gap.  The plug and play kit retails for $49.95 USD and does not require any other software to be loaded onto your PDA for it to work.  Just plug it in and surf the cyber highways at top speeds supported by your handset.  It’s that simple.

For users of other PDAs or vertical applications a standard DB9F to Nokia handset kit is also available.  The kits will start shipping to customers by the end of next month.
